Co-Curricular Activity

Courses Available to CCA Members

Basic Quadcopter Course

This course introduces students to fundamental quadcopter (drone) flying, and allows them to familiarise themselves with the controls of the aircraft as well as the safe operation and areas of operation.

Students pilot the drone from a fixed standpoint, also known as line-of-sight flying; this is an easier method of controlling the drone.

SYFC Workup & Introduction to Flying Training (Swift) Course

Students with good performance during their SYFC CCA are offered this course to better prepare them for flying training.

Through the SWIFT course, students will be taught basic aircraft systems and have the opportunity to conduct aircraft checks on the DA40 aircraft. They will also practise radiotelephony communications and the basic flying manoeuvres flown in the DA40 flight simulator.

Aerodynamics Course

This course introduces students to the theories of flight.

Apart from classroom-based lessons on aerodynamics, students will also get to visit one of the Polytechnics where they will learn the aerodynamic application of aircraft wing designs, as well as the wind tunnel testing for different aerofoil designs.

Aircraft Propulsion System Course

The course introduces students to the various types of aircraft engines and learn how they work.

Apart from classroom-based lessons, students will also visit one of the Polytechnics where they will learn the actual operation of an aircraft engine.
